Team Faith

CHANGE OF PLANS

We will now be leaving the church at 6:15!!! We HAVE to leave at 6:15 so that we can make this schedule happen. After we leave at 6:15 we will be going to the Park and Ride DART Station at Spring Valley in Richardson. This also takes care of the parking, parking is now free since there is no charge at the Park and Ride. The train will take us to Pearl station which is approximatly 3 blocks from where the walk will start. Thank you for your understanding, we are doing this because there is going to be some very bad traffic problems and the is NO free parking at the start of the walk. SO 2 birds witrh one stone!!!!

SEE YOU AT 6:15am

Welcome to Team Faith's Home Page

Team Faith is a group of people that were brought together by a tragic event which has led to many positive outcomes. One of those outcomes is participating in the MADD 5K walk that takes place in Dallas, TX. Click on "When & Where" for details about the walk and how to sign up! The tragic event happened on October 13th, 2005 when Justin McKenzie and I (Chase Ward) were involved in a car wreck. We were stopped at a red light and when it turned green we were crossing the intersection when a drunk driver hit us going between 80 and 100 miles per hour!

I got thrown out of the vehicle by twenty feet. I landed in the front lawn of the church by the Woodlawn Cemetery. When the EMTs arrived to the scene of the crash they pronounced me DOA (dead on arrival. But, by the grace of God I was not dead; I just had a very faint pulse that they later found. The wreck put me in a coma for 28 days. I got a traumatic brain injury, some cracked ribs, I lost my spleen, a kidney, I had a softball size hole in my diaphragm, and a collapsed lung.  From the site of the crash I was taken to Texoma Medical Center and then Care Flighted to Methodist Hospital in Dallas. I was at Methodist for almost a month and then was taken to Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation in Dallas were I spent 4 months learning how to walk, talk, eat, went through many cognitive exercises, and many other things in order to help me recover from my brain injury. I did therapy for six months at Baylor Rehab to help me recover from the brain injury and for 3 of those months my mom and I had to live in an apartment in Dallas while I was in outpatient rehab. I was released from rehab on my birthday, March 8th of 2006 which was a goal of mine. I am now taking classes at Texas Woman’s University with a goal of becoming a registered dietitian.
